Liberal Democrats in Torfaen have selected experienced campaigner and politician, Veronica German, to be their candidate for the Senedd election in May 2021.

Veronica has been campaigning in our area with the Lib Dems since she joined the party over 30 years ago. She previously represented this region as the Assembly Member for South Wales East, when she was the Shadow Minister for Health and Local Government and also served on Torfaen County Borough Council.

After the selection Veronica said:

"I am proud tome chosen for Torfaen- the place where I cut my political teeth. This is a really difficult time for everyone and especially for communities in this constituency.  We have to ensure that we don't just return to the situation as it was before the pandemic. We need a plan to support the creation of new jobs, cut NHS waiting times and tackle the ticking time bomb of climate change."

Veronica and the Lib Dem will be listening to people across the Torfaen constituency in coming weeks .  From Blaenavon to Llantarnam

"We really want to know which issues are most important to people living in our area," said Veronica.

"We have seen how the pandemic has exposed inequalities.  I am keen to see social care given the priority that it needs to ensure everyone can receive the very best if care when they need it no matter whatever their financial situation."
